Dear friends,
Chuang Yen Monastery will commemorate the enlightenment of the Bodhisattva Kuan-Yin on July 21, 2019 at the Great Buddha Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00noon. The event for that day includes the chanting of the sutra The Universal Door of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva and making offerings to the Buddha. Participants are encouraged to make donations to receive blessings for themselves or for deliverance of the deceased and to sponsor vegetarian meals for fellow participants.
It is believed that Kuan Yin Bodhisattva attained Buddhahood infinite kalpas ago and was named \u201cThe Tathagatha of the Brightness of True Dharma.\u201d\u00a0 Filled with great compassion to help others, he decided to manifest as a Bodhisattva. Kuan Yin will appear in any form in accordance with the needs of the beings who need his instruction. That is why he is called \u201cKuan Yin,\u201d which means, \u201cThe Observer of the sights and sounds of the world.\u201d
