According to the sutras of the Mahayana Tradition, there are seven types of jewels: gold, silver, colored glaze, crystal, coral, pearl and agate which are regarded as the precious treasure of the mundane world. A swampy area of approximately 5 acres was developed into the beautiful lake. The area around the lake also contains walking paths, perennial flowers, a rock garden, Chinese pavilions and decorative bridges. It\u2019s a great place to relax.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bodhi Path<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1134\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Bodhi path_b\" src=\"http:\/\/chuangyen.fatcow.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Bodhi-path_b-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.baus.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Bodhi-path_b-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.baus.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Bodhi-path_b.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>&#8220;Bodhi\u201d literally means \u201cawaken.\u201d Thus, Bodhi Path means \u201cPath to Awakening.\u201d It symbolizes the idea that ignorant sentient beings of this mundane world could become fully awakened and attain enlightenment by walking the path, i.e., practicing the teachings of the Buddha.<\/p>\n<p>The Bodhi\u00a0 Path was the result of the efforts of the previous Abbott, Ven. JiRu, and all others who contributed to its construction. It runs directly from the visitor&#8217;\u2019 parking lot to the Great Buddha Hall. Walking up the Bodhi Path, one is reminded to follow the eight-fold Path and to be liberated from the sufferings in this world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18 Arahants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[nggallery id=6]<\/p>\n<p>Bodhi\u00a0path contains 18 statues of Arahants, 9 on each side. The 18 Arahants were great disciples of the Buddha.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Culapanthaka Thera<\/strong>, declared chief among monks skilled in creating forms by mind-power and in mental \u201cevolution\u201d (cittavivatta).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Subhuti Thera<\/strong>, described as \u201cforemost in realizing emptiness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Mahakotthita Thera<\/strong>, ranked foremost among masters of logical analysis (patisambhidappattanaj).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Revata Thera<\/strong>, declared as foremost among forest-dwellers (arabbakanaj).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Mahakappina Thera<\/strong>, considered foremost among those who taught the monks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Upali Thera<\/strong>, declared\u00a0to be the most proficient of those who were learned in the Vinaya or Discipline (vinayadharanaj).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Kaludayi Thera<\/strong>,\u00a0declared pre-eminent among those who gladdened the clans (kulappasadakanaj aggo).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Bakkula Thera<\/strong>, often mentioned as an example of a monk who practiced asceticism without preaching it to others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Nanda Thera<\/strong>,\u00a0declared him chief among his disciples in self control.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Anuruddha Thera<\/strong>, foremost in consoling the monks and admonishing them as to their future course of action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Sariputta Thera<\/strong>, the chief disciple of the Buddha, declared as foremost among those who possessed wisdom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Punna-mantaniputta Thera<\/strong>, declared to be pre-eminent among those who preached the Dhamma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Moggallana Thera<\/strong>,\u00a0the second of the Chief Disciple of the Buddha, pre-eminence lay in his possession of iddhi-power (supernormal power).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Gavajpati Thera<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Mahakaccana Thera<\/strong>, considered chief among expounders in full of the brief saying of the Buddha.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Rahula Thera<\/strong>, declared\u00a0as foremost among those of his disciples who were anxious for training (sikkakamanaj).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Kondabba Thera<\/strong>, declared to be pre-eminent among disciples of long-standing (rattabbunaj).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Pindola Thera<\/strong>, declared him chief of the \u201cLion-roarers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven Jewels Lake The jewels represent the treasures of the Dharma.
