Bhikkhu Bodhi (\u83e9\u63d0\u6bd4\u4e18)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Date: 2012.8.12 ( Sunday), 2-4 pm<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Place: Woo Ju Memorial Library<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi is an American Buddhist monk originally from New York City. \u00a0He obtained a PhD in philosophy from Claremont Graduate School in 1972. \u00a0In late 1972, he received monastic ordination in Sri Lanka, where he lived for over twenty years. \u00a0He was the editor for the Buddhist Publication Society in Kandy, Sri Lanka, from 1984 until 2002. \u00a0He has edited Ven. Nyanamoli\u2019s translation of the\u00a0<em>Majjhima Nikaya (Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha)<\/em>, translated the\u00a0<em>Samyutta Nikaya (Connected Discourses of the Buddha)<\/em>, and compiled an anthology of suttas from the Pali Canon (<em>In the Buddha\u2019s Words<\/em>). \u00a0His new translation of the Anguttara Nikaya (Numerical Discourses of the Buddha) is due out in the fall. In recent years, he has turned his attention to the issue of world poverty. In 2008, together with his students, they founded \u201cBuddhist Global Relief\u201d (BGR) to assist people throughout the world afflicted with chronic hunger.
