Seminar: Is Buddhist Karma a Retributive Principle? 11/30/25
October 23, 2025
A seminar at Woo Ju Memorial Library with Dr. Lee Ling Ting
When humans face difficulties and misfortunes in unbearable suffering, some may praise God, believing the Creator perhaps has benevolent intentions. Others may resent fate, perceiving it as unjust or predetermined. Still others may attribute their circumstances to past karma, considering it self-inflicted. Buddhist ethics, however, endorses none of these responses. How, then, does Buddhist karma address what we encounter? This talk will examine Buddhist sutras and philosophical texts to explore and answer this question.
Date: Sunday, November 30
Time: 2:00-3:30pm
Location: Woo Ju Memorial Library
Speaker: Dr. Lee Ling Ting
