. . . Hello Everyone: I'm a former Oxford writer
researching religious websites. I'm probably best known
for my description of the Buddha's life as portrayed in
the stone carvings at Borobudur in central Java . . . .
I was deeply moved by that sculpture and report upon it
extensively in chapter 16 of my latest book,
TO PLEASE A CHINESE WIFE. Amazon.com reviews it well. . . .
Now I am preparing to post the entire chapter on it's own
website to reach more followers of the Buddhist faith or
admirers of that remarkable teacher Himself. Please watch
for the site. Thank you, Author Edward Frey.

I am so thankful for the BAUS online.
I use to live in NY and would visit the monestary often.
I now live in Maine and have few budhist resources available.
It is great to be able to acess and study information on the
dharma on-line. I thank all those who have made this possible.

I have read but a fraction of the information
contained on this site, but find myself agreeing immensely
with the philosophy. I shall certainly make it a point to
learn more of this philosophy and apply it to my life

I've been working with a hospital in Westchester where some of the
patients have expressed interest in perhaps touring the Chuang Yen
grounds. Do you normally accomodate small group visits? How do I
contact you if so? Also, if some patients were interested in, for
example, learning about mindfulness or breathing meditation as an
adjunct to their medical recovery, would you be able to accomodate
perhaps a brief, informal teaching session for them? Thank you very
much.

Warm regards,
arthur

I had ventured into my local spiritual book store and immediately overheard a customer receiving directions to the monastery in Lake Carmel. Knowing the universe sometimes works in mysterious ways and presently working deeply at my study of Buddhism, I thought, "oh I get it, I thought I was here for some incense and a book, I'm really here for these directions." I didn't realize that there was such a place within an hour's drive. It feels it might be time to deepen my meditation practice. This monastery looks to be a good place for such a deepening. I don't know why I am drawn to Buddhism, but it is a strong and lovely pull. In peace.

While venturing into a local spiritual book store, I overheard one of the owners giving directions to the monastery in Lake Carmel. I knew that I too should get directions. Life was obviously giving me some directions, and it was perfect as I have been in my most serious phase of Buddhist study yet. Mindfulness, and loving kindness, compassionate action, are becoming more and more a part of my thoughts and slowly more and more part of my every day actions. I love the journey. My life is blessed and finding this monastery and site are new blessings.
